My new Bear bear pouch

06052007051_1 06052007042_2 06052007041_1 06052007040_1 Mika_10 06052007052_1 Today I chanced upon this cute little shop selling bags and shoes. The owners are very friendly and chatty too.Everything in this shop is "one".For example: the shoes ,they are made of sheep skin and both sides are of different designs. The bags ranged from young sporty designs to elegant clutch bags for the mature but the bright display of colourful bear range pouches really caught my eye and I picked up a cute ,bright Bear Bear pouch for my handphone.Though the selections are not on par with the regular brands like Charles and Keith bags and shoes, but each item in the store is unique and what you choose for yourself represents your character and finer taste of life.Well, at least the pouch I chose add colour to my otherwise dull collection of bags.If you are in Bugis area for shopping next time, pop by the shop and I am sure you can find something in there you like.No prizes for guessing who is the shop owner, I'll leave it up to you to find out. Hehehe.

The Graduation_17thJuly2006

This is a very important date I have to remember as long as I am in active service with United Airlines,or perhaps for the rest of my life. Why? Because this date officially concluded 6 weeks of my training  & marks the beginning of a new era in my career. It was also on this day I received my wings &  being certified as a full fledged flight attendant with United Airlines. The ceremony was simple & light hearted with many of my batchmates' friends, relatives & of course our distinguished guests who graced the occasion. It started with a speech by Onboard Service Manager & General Manager , after which we were called up one by one on stage to be presented with wings pinning & collection of our graduation certificate. It was a moment all of us had been waiting for. As we exited the aisle & made our way out of the ballroom, we cheered & congratulated each other on our graduation. This was the day United celebrated for us & made us all proud of being a part of the United family. Now it's time to fly........("/)

I am back

Yeah! Finally, after 4 & a half weeks of tough training & 'mental torture'. We all made it thru & graduated. I can't wait to earn my wings soon & start flying. I enjoyed the conducive environment & such cooling weather there.Nice food to pile up weight & great friends who constantly motivated me & studied with me. The instructors were never far from suppport wherever I need them & I certainly developed some great friendships there. Of course the 'all work & no play' rule is not on my agenda & I spent most evenings relaxing & playing pool with my kakis, chilled out at Freddies every Saturday night, while revising my inflight manual every other day. Time passed by so fast & before we know, it's another era for me after graduation. Hopefully, I get to learn a lot more & enjoy working with my new colleagues, giving the best to customers onboard the plane & be a good flight attendant.

Uni - Ted Life in Chicago

After arriving here on 2nd June and settling here with a heavy jetlag, I was hit by Sleeping monster & slept again for 10 hours. Luckily all of us were well rested enough for a shopping spree & sight seeing around in Chicago before the class begins on 5thJune. I joined Nancy & Millie for a sight seeing trip around downtown, together with Richard, Lay Pheng & Chaki. We went to Sears Towers, toured the Lake of Michigan area & had great Chinese food in Chinatown area. We also headed for some light shopping where I picked up some great deals from Victoria Secrets, Hersheys Chocolate shop etc... I enjoyed the sunny, bright but cooling weather ( 20 degrees Celsius) of the downtown, and we walked a lot. The rest of my batchmates went to factory outlets or Woodsfield mall for shopping,shopping,shopping....Hahaha!

The week started with all the manuals handed out & I have to say this: United is excited about reopening this domicile again but at the same time, they can't wait to see us getting started. Becoz they shoved us with tons of manuals & assignments, not forgetting lots of CBT (Computer Based Training).Ghosh! This is tens times more of what I have to absorb while attending SEP with Tiger Airways, and more to come. I guess the gals would start to hit the malls this weekend again for shopping to ease their stress, hehe! Luckily, I was able to assemble a small group from my batch to attend the after class CBT which takes up 40% of our leisure time in the evening. U see, we have 3 guys... 1 ang moh kia, 1 Jippun kia & 1 keh leng kia from my batch. Seems we all hit off well coz my room & theirs is only seperated by a laundry room, hence we hanged around together quite often. All are experienced crew & I felt motiovated. Right now, it's back to my CBT in one of the classrooms, munching my chips & having lots of coffee.....and burning the midnight oil.Bye for now....

Beginning of a long jouney

Finally, the day has arrived. I am departing to Chicago Illinois for training. Didn't sleep at all before reporting for check-in at 4.15am. Flight took off for Hong Kong on schdule & I was given a window seat in the Business class.(Great! I can sleep) There were about 33 of us in this batch & all enjoy the smooth jouney to Hongkong. We arrived at Chek Lap Kok International Airport and experienced a heavy downpour, causing a 2 hour delay in take off for Chicago.Journey took 14hours & I slept for 10 hours on the flight. We finally arrived in Chicago at 5pm & by the time we settled into our rooms, it was already 7.30pm. We had dinner at the training center caferia & were briefed on the rooms assigned, ID photo taking the next day etc.....  I am glad to find out that there are many UA ex crew in this batch too.All are very friendly & helpful with sharing their experiences & I absorbed as much as I can. Many also thought I am only in my early 20s..... I wished. More to come....

My last TR flight

Date: 27thMay2006

Flt: TR802/503       Singapore - Macau - Clark - Singapore

I finally completed my last flight with Tiger Airways...... 11:38 hours of flying time was clocked.Capt Mark Zucal & Senior FO Thierry were in command of TAF. I was assigned S1 duties, together with my CIC June Chng upfront, with Kate Lai & Orchid Rico down the back.It was a normal routine flight pattern and as usual, after my AIC was done, I relaxed at the service steps , basked myself under the bright sunny weather which I always love. I took some pictures with the friendly ground staff & with a heavy heart, we took off from Clark Airbase. Not much drama happened but I am contented to be back home safe & sound. The day ended with kind blessings & wonderful advices bestowed on me by my colleagues.I am going to miss all the people I had flown with.Once again, thank you & take care.

Creating The Roaring Club album

This album is especially created as a tribute to Tiger Airways. It's only been a year ago since I joined but definitely the most wonderful company I had ever worked for. My bosses, flight deck crew, CICs & FSSs etc.... They are the most astonishing team I worked with which made me what I am today.Without all my seniors' patience guidance & advices, I wouldn't dare to dream of the wonderful path I am going to undertake with United Airlines. Tiger Airways is definetly roaring now, with the right business module implemented to ensure we are able to maintain our foothold among our competitors, I certainly forsee great advancements for this great company, and still hoping that one day the gals' welfare are being well taken care of. With this, a very BIG THANK YOU to Tiger Airways for giving me this opportunity to excel & soar even higher.(''/)

Ways of surviving Disappointments

Disappointments are part and parcel of life. In this circus of existence, you cannot have your way all the time. Things change; people change.

Events and results have an unpredictable and uncontrollable way of happening.  To keep yourself from being utterly frustrated and dismayed, here are some  things to avoid or at least soften the pangs of great

disappointment:

1.       Expect the best but be ready for the worst.

When you work hard on something, it's natural to expect the best results.  And the most glorious rewards. But sometimes things don't turn out the way you want them to. To keep from being dreadfully dismayed, expect the best, but at the same time, psyche yourself up for the worst.

Then you'll be ready for any unexpected turn of events!

2.      Give it your best shot.

Much of the frustration that follows a failure is the big disappointment you feel towards yourself. When you do not try hard enough, you are overcome with guilt and regret. In whatever you are doing, do your best, give it your best shot. Then you'll know you did all you can and you should be proud for trying.

3.      Realize that you cannot own people.

We often expect people to act or be a certain way that would be congruous to how we want them to be. Realize that you do not and can not own people.  Each person has his own mind and the natural right to free will.

Give others the gift of space and freedom. Remember that when you lose someone, whatever you were expecting was not meant to be.

4.     Realize that we are just temporary stewards of things.

When you lose material things, whether they are stolen from you or gutted down by a fire, minimize your grief by realizing that we are just temporary keepers of what we own. They will finally find their way to where they were destined to be. Besides, when you finally go, you cannot take a single thing with you.

5.     Never expect anything back.

People get bitterly disappointed when they don't get back what they give to others. People always expect (some even demand!) repayment. This is a major cause of extreme frustration. When you help someone (especially

financially) do not expect anything back. Think of it as a gift of love that's given freely and completely with no strings attached.

6.      Don't pin your life on one person.

You would be doing yourself a great injustice if you pinned your life on one person. No one person should take control, importance or dominance over your  existence. People come and go in our lives. If you depend too much on  someone, you will feel so shattered, helpless and hopeless if you lose him.  Make sure you can stand on your own two feet. And live your own dreams, not  other people's.

7.      Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

To avoid disappointment from losing anything, don't put all your eggs in  one basket. It's a good practice to have more than one project happening  so that when one fails, you have others to look forward to.

Regarding  financial investment, it is wise to diversify. The more things you have going, the less the chance of losing it all.

8.      Realize that success is a combination of many factors.

You do not have full control over the outcome of things. Even with all the  necessary preparations and precautions, things may end up differently from  how you want them to. There are many factors and variables that determine  how something or an event will turn out. And that includes the weather!

9.      Realize that you will always get another chance.

If you don't succeed now, there will always be another time. Tell yourself  that maybe it just isn't the right time yet for what you desire.

Keep in  mind that you will always get another chance to get a crack at it.

Never  lose hope. Hope springs eternal.

10.    Realize that without defeat, victory won't be as sweet.

You have to feel the bitterness of failure to be able to savor the  sweetness of success. Failures make you strong and powerful. Use them as a  challenge for more determination to go after your dreams next time.

Analyze  why you failed and learn from your mistakes.

11.     Realize that the universe has its own divine plan.

Yes indeed, the universe has a divine design. It has its own unchangeable,  unique plan which may be very different from yours. You may not understand  it at all for now, but it is something you have to force yourself to live  with. Going against the current will just frustrate you.

Do what the Zen masters preach: Go with the flow!

12.    When things turn out awry, it's not the end of the world.

The world will not end just because something did not turn out the way you  expected it to. It will keep on turning even if you cried a bathtub of  tears in your own little dark corner. So dry your eyes and erase those  disappointments.
